I have been busy designing a new pencil wrap that I am making in four sweet Japanese linen fabrics!
I chanced across this awesome cafe and shop on my way to the Art and Design market in Wollongong on Sunday. Lee and Me overflows with edible and non-edible treasures…home made rhubarb jam, a sleeping deer and colour coordinated vintage hardbacks!
Months ago I saw a terrarium at a friend’s house and filed away the crafty idea that one day I would like to make one (or 10!) The idea jumped into the front of my mind on the weekend and I ordered an amazing looking little book ‘Terrarium Craft’. Everywhere I go now my eyes search out interesting glass vessels and on Sunday when I was out walking I gasped when I spotted some moss! I only took a little and I am lovingly trying to keep it alive until my book arrives next week and I figure out what to do with it!
I caught up with my crafty friend Katharine (http://cargocollective.com/katharineohara) this afternoon and we worked on our quilty projects in the sun. Katharine finished her patchwork quilt and I just love how boldly she mixed and matched different colours and patterns. I have been knitting a beautiful patchwork rug which is a Jenny Manning design. Jenny sells four kits on her website which come with easy instructions and balls and balls of luxurious New Zealand mohair. I already have my eye on the ‘Blush’ design for my next project (http://www.knitaquilt.com.au/)!
Wandering the streets of Melbourne yesterday I chanced across the delightful Onabee store (think handmade treats, haberdashery, yarn, fabric and knitting doctor classes!). I bought a great little NZ craft mag I had never seen before called ‘Extra Curricular’. I devoured it on the plane back to Sydney, only lifting my eyes from the page when a nana sitting next to me insisted on telling me stories about her friend Beryl who makes fantastic knitted shrugs : ) I was most impressed by the interviews with crafty peeps. Really great questions were put to them (about the financial side of crafting for example-which seem to be questions rarely asked). Nice work Extra Curricular!
The lovely ladies from The Milk Thieves Art & Design store in Wollongong have invited me to their Spring Art and Design market. I am thrilled to be attending and I have a lot of new crafty goodness to show you Woollongong peeps!

Why wasn’t I featured in Frankie’s ‘Spaces’? For weeks I have been thinking of cleaning my studio and uploading some great photos that would look like they were straight out of a Frankie mag…Well…you know what! I don’t work like that! This is how I work…this is my creative space laid bare!
Things have been a little quiet around here…because Goat has been on holidays! He read ‘Everything is Illuminated’ by Jonathan Safran Foer whilst away and will post a review shortly. We have also recently moved into a new studio and are excited to get really busy in it!
